The environment surrounding our society is changing every minute, and business also needs to evolve in step with these changes in the societal environment. MPS uses its networks with various industries and financial institutions to provide total support at all stages from the formation of schemes for new projects, to financing, development, and operation. We create business with high profitability that are in line with current trends.
The global trend toward social decarbonization is reflected in the growing demand for electric power generated from renewable energy. As soon as Japan introduced the feed-in-tariff (FIT) scheme, we began to provide our customers with stable, long-term access to renewable electric power through our PPA* business, which is based on our accumulated expertise in related fields, including the development and operation of solar power generation schemes, as well as the power distribution business and other resources of Mitsui & Co. Group. PPAs allow customers to procure electric power without initial investment or the need to manage equipment, since the facilities are owned by third parties. Our optimized solutions include onsite PPAs, whereby equipment is installed on the customer’s site, and offsite PPAs, under which power is transmitted from remote locations if the customer’s site is not suitable for installation.

We help national retail chains to reduce electricity charges and power consumption by installing high-voltage power substation and solar power generation equipment in multiple stores. Our one-stop service as the contact point for system maintenance includes coordination with installation, leasing, and insurance companies and safety inspection associations. By working closely with these companies, we ensure a timely response when problems occur. These services reduce the burden on customers and provide nationwide, wide-area access to high-quality services at all times.
There is growing interest in ammonia as a fuel for use in power generation and other areas. Using our accumulated expertise as an infrastructure and machinery trading company, together with the knowledge and networks of Mitsui & Co. Group, we will work with stakeholders in various fields to provide optimal solutions at all project development stages, from the formulation of plans for fuel ammonia supply stations to the construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) will be a vital technology for the realization of a decarbonized society. With CCS, CO2 emitted at industrial facilities, such as power plants, steelmaking facilities, and cement, petrochemical, and chemical factories, is captured and stored underground in non-permeable geological formations. This process requires large-scale CO2 capture systems and compression equipment. Using our accumulated expertise as an infrastructure and machinery trading company, as well as the knowledge and networks of Mitsui & Co. Group, we will work with stakeholders in various fields to provide optimal solutions at all project development stages, from the formulation of CCS plans to the construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities.
